I love to teach and I love to sing!

Welcome to Singing Strong, where students achieve the voice of their dreams!

Students who attend the Singing Strong Voice Studio have lots of fun learning in a supportive environment. Students develop confidence to sing with power and strength.
There are many opportunities to  develop performance skills with concerts organized on a regular basis.
It has been my privilege to have had over 25 years experience as a vocalist, singing a wide variety of styles.  My expertise in teaching comes from almost 30 years working in education both as a classroom teacher and music tutor. I have a passion for education and I love working with students, finding out their individual needs and helping them to achieve their musical dreams.
I have been fortunate to have studied with some of the best teachers in Melbourne and continually keep up to date with new trends in teaching voice, regularly attending conferences and workshops.
I have completed study at Victorian College of the Arts and performed with Opera Australia.

I love collaborating with groups for singing and this has bred an interest in choral singing. Currently I conduct The Latrobe Chorale as well as working with school choirs in the local community. In 2015 the Chorale performed the major work “Puccini’s Pettite Messe Solenelle” where I enjoyed my role as conductor. In 2016 the Chorale performed Faure’s Requiem and Rossini’s Gloria with a major concert in November of Handel’s Messiah. I had the joy of preparing the choir and then performing as soloist at the concerts. In 2017 the Latrobe Chorale performed Brahms Requiem where I not only conducted the work but also sang the soprano solo. In 2018 The Latrobe Chorale performed with the West Gippsland Chorale and Heidelberg Chorale, making a massed choir of over 150 singers with a  50 piece orchestra. We performed Puccini’s “Messa di Gloria” as well as Karl Jenkins “Symphonic Adiemus” to a full audience at the West Gippsland Performing Arts Centre.
I love singing for the local community and regularly sing at community events, having collaborated with The City of Traralgon Band for many years. Singing in front of a large crowd is a thrilling experience and I enjoyed performing as a guest soloist at Traralgon Carols by Candlelight in 2013 and 2016 singing in front of an audience of approximately 2000 people.
I  love working with people of all ages. My youngest student is 7 years old and the eldest at the moment is in their 60’s. Because of my many experiences singing in a wide variety of styles I have expertise in developing the style of singing that appeals to the student. This is shown in the wide variety of musical styles my students currently sing. From opera to music theater to country, I can assist anyone who wishes to improve their singing technique to be able to sing with freedom and confidence.
My one on one tuition with individual programs  is developed for all my students, depending on their needs. All lessons are recorded for students to review in their own time.
The only way for you to become better as a performer is to do it. I offer many opportunities for students to perform as well as a regular newsletter with up to date information about singing and singers.

I have also developed a student website that enables students to keep track of lessons, develop repertoire and access important information to further help develop skills.
